    1472144 Sawing L JAGERS 3 Oct 1975 [3 Oct 1974] 40512/75 Heading B5L A sawing machine for cold-sawing steel plate workpieces comprises a horizontal plate 3, 3b for supporting the workpiece W, a sawing unit including a circular saw blade 15 and drive means therefor, means, e.g. slide 6, providing for relative horizontal feed movement between the saw unit and workpiece, means such as rollers 23a, 23b or sliding elements for supporting the saw unit directly off the workpiece surface, and guide means whereby the saw unit (including vertical slide 13) is movable in the vertical direction so as to follow any undulation in the workpiece surface during the feed movement. The rollers 23a and 23b are mounted on inclined, adjustable supports 22a and 22b so that the saw blade 15 can be adjusted for different thicknesses of workpiece and the extent of penetration C, Fig. 6, through the workpiece not only kept to a minimum but maintained at a constant value throughout the sawing movement. The saw unit is biased towards the workpiece by hydraulic cylinder and piston 17, 18. Supports 22a, 22b carry, in addition to the rollers 23a and 23b, two pairs of jaws 24a, 24b which bear on the saw blade on either side thereof for support close to the region of cut. In a further embodiment (Fig. 8, not shown) a sawing machine for trimming the two edges of a steel plate simultaneously has two adjustably spaced saw units which remain stationary and the workpiece is fed relatively thereto.

    FIELD: machine tool industry.
    Apparatuses for cutting with a saw blade mounted in a saw assembly on horizontal guides are known.
    The disadvantage of these devices is the jamming of the saw blade.
    In order to prevent the saw blade from jamming, the described device is provided with a cross-bar mounted on horizontal guides with vertical guides for the saw unit and supports, the supports being made in the form of rollers or shoes and provided with guides.
    FIG. 1 shows the device, a general view; in fig. 2 is a view along arrow A in FIG. one; in fig. 3 and 4 different positions of the cutting disc.
    The device consists of a foundation 1, on which a beam 3 with horizontal guides 4 is fastened through racks 2. On rails 4 there is a traverse 5 with vertical guides 6 for the saw blade 7. On the traverse there are also inclined guides 8 with supports 9. Support the rollers can be rearranged with respect to the workpiece 10.     1. A cutting device for a saw blade 20 installed in a saw assembly on the horizons, characterized in that, in order to prevent the saw blade from jamming, it is provided with a cross bar mounted on horizontal guides with vertical guides for the saw assembly and supports.
